Sample Academic Project
K-5 Integrative Academics – Students read the Birch Bark House and compared contemporary ways of living to 200-year-old Native American Living. Through responsive historical writing and storytelling students re-lived the story on their school farm. Through shelter building, hand sewing leather makazins, and contemplative discussions the class was able to make the story come alive through gratitude for our Abenaki land, and for all that we have.
“It brings us so much solace to never have to worry about our child being content and safe while at VFFDS. It brings us so much joy to see our child’s smile at the end of the day and to see him light up as he recounts stories from his learning day.” –VFFS Parent
